Rich & Solange’s Wedding at The Palace at Somerset Park
White roses and champagne satin for the garden ceremony, followed by a ballroom celebration beneath crystal chandeliers. Photographed by Ebb Friday.

Champagne satin, white roses, and a long lace train: Rich and Solange’s wedding at The Palace at Somerset Park began with a classic palette. Out in the gardens, against the white columns and banks of hydrangeas, the clothes needed little else.
Solange wore a strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and floral lace, her hair loose beneath a sheer veil. A jeweled hairpiece sat to one side. Her bridesmaids wore champagne dresses in a mix of silhouettes, from a high halter neckline to softly draped, off-the-shoulder styles. White rose bouquets tied the looks together. Rich wore a black tuxedo with a matching bow tie, a white pocket square, and a white rose boutonniere.
Before the ceremony, there were glasses raised in the getting-ready room and last adjustments to Rich’s bow tie. Outside, the wedding party gathered along the colonnade. Solange laughed with her bridesmaids in the sunshine; Rich leaned against a column, hands in his pockets. Among the more formal portraits are those easy exchanges between friends, bouquets lowered and shoulders turned toward one another.
The couple married outdoors, with rows of white chairs facing the terrace and trees beyond. An embrace for Rich, Solange’s glance toward the guests, and the smiles around the officiant give the ceremony photographs their intimacy. Then the newlyweds came down the aisle hand in hand. In the black-and-white photograph that opens this gallery, Solange is beaming and Rich’s mouth is open in a cheer as their guests applaud.
Afterward, guests gathered on the terrace. Floral prints, green dresses, and blue suits brought more color into the afternoon, with groups drawing close for portraits between conversations.
Inside, crystal chandeliers hung over the ballroom’s white dance floor. The couple’s entrance was surrounded by raised flags; later, blue and violet lighting changed the room entirely. During their dance, fountains of sparks rose beside them. There is a wide photograph of Rich and Solange holding hands beneath the chandeliers, guests looking on from their tables. After an afternoon of sunlight and garden portraits, the evening had found its own kind of spectacle.
